Paige's Perspective: Are We Living by Old Rules That No Longer Apply?

In this episode of Paige’s Perspective, we’re diving into why so many women struggle with people-pleasing, caretaking, and suppressing their needs—and the truth about where these behaviors actually come from. Spoiler alert: you weren’t born this way.
For generations, women have been conditioned to put everyone else first. Our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers weren’t just “nice” or “selfless”—they were surviving in a world where they had no real choices. They were trained to keep the peace, endure mistreatment, and never ask for too much. And even though times have changed, the mindset? Still lingers.
Women were taught that strength means tolerating pain, that endurance equals loyalty, and that setting boundaries makes you selfish.
In this episode, we’re breaking down:
🔹 The history of why women were conditioned to people-please (lack of rights, financial dependence, and societal expectations)
🔹 The generational cycles we’ve inherited—and need to break
🔹 Why endurance isn’t the same as resilience (and how to stop equating suffering with strength)
🔹 How to unlearn the belief that love = sacrifice
We are one of the first generations of women who have the ability to leave, set boundaries, and prioritize ourselves. The hardest part? Actually believing we’re allowed to. Let’s talk about it.
